Clinical Earns Crack At Windsor Forest Stakes

After a typically slow start to the campaign, Sir Mark Prescott now has his horses in fine form, and the galloping baronet was clearly delighted with the winning performance of his progressive filly, Clinical, who proved three-quarters-of-a-length too strong for Joviality in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes on Derby Day at Epsom, at the weekend, writes Elliot Slater.

The much travelled winner of three successive listed contests, last term, when scoring at Cologne in Germany, Dundalk in Ireland, and then at Lingfield, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned daughter of Motivator signalled her intention to make her presence felt at a higher level, this season, by travelling strongly throughout the nine-furlong contest on her first outing of 2012.

Luke Morris, riding the four-year-old for the very first time, placed his mount fairly close to the pace, before sending her on into the lead in front of the massive Epsom crowd at the two pole, then kept her right up to her work to fend off the 6lb higher rated runner-up. The result no doubt resulted in a few big pay-outs for fans who enjoy betting on racing at Bet Victor.

Clinical had finished third behind Antara in the same event, 12 months earlier, and Prescott revealed that having now achieved her first victory at Group 3 level, he intends to have a crack at the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot, on June 20, a prestigious mile contest restricted to fillies and mares.

The winner of five of her ten career starts, and placed on a further couple of occasions, it appears that Clinical is only now reaching the peak of her powers, and it would not surprise to see her run well against the guaranteed smart opposition at the Berkshire venue.

Prescott has been very selective, in the few runners he has saddled so far, this term, scoring with five out of 15 so far, with four of his last eight runners having found the winners enclosure. Find great odds on horse racing on Bet Victor.
